TO OPEN THE BONNET.

SHOCK ABSORBERS.

Turn off petrol cock below the autovac (Fig. 1, page 3). Disconnect petrol pipe at the union A below the float chamber. Unscrew fly nut B holding float chamber to mixing chamber. When replacing be sure this fly nut is properly tightened. Looseness will cause an air leak that will result in irregular low speed running. Stand in front of the radiator, and draw forward the handles A. These handles control the bolts B which lock the bonnet sides and the catches that engage with the hooks C in the bonnet top. Lift up the bonnet top to open; it is self-supporting. The bonnet sides can be lifted bodily off their hinges when necessary If the car pitches too much, tighten the shock absorbers by using a spanner on the nut A.

There is a pointer attached to the nut in order to facilitate the equal adjustment of the shock absorbers on opposite sides of the car.
