midst of traffic. Never overtake another car on a
bend or elsewhere unless you have a. clear view ahead,
and remember that undulating straight roads are deceptive
because an approaching car may be nearly hidden by an
insignificant rise. Never stop on a bend; always choose a
position that can be seen from a good distance in both
directions. If you have to stop by another car always
pull up on the same side of the road. Never fellow another car too closely. It is dangerous for a beginner to undertake to follow the lead of another car on an unknown road if it lies through much traffic. When following another car bear in mind that cyclists and pedestrians who have moved aside for he first seldom seem to expect the second. When signalling to a cyclist that you are about to pass, always allow him half the road in which to turn round and look at you. Always blow the horn at a corner but never assume that anyone has heard it. Always signify your intentions to the driver of the car behind, whether he is there or not, but never rely on this courtesy from the driver of the car in front. |
