The aim of this chapter is to be of service to those who
disclaim any technical knowledge about their car but nevertheless
drive alone, and to whom, therefore, even the most trivial
derangement nay be disconcerting.
The method of diagnosis by systematic elimination is that pursued
subconsciously by the expert, and is the quickest, as well as the
surest way of finding the cause of trouble.
The illustrations are as complete and as explicit as possible,
but, in common with all the illustrations in this book, they
cannot, of course, take account of small alterations in detail
design that may be made from time to time.
Suggestions for the extension or improvement of this chapter will
be appreciated.
